A Taster on board Kailani

18 August, 2015

After a good night’s rest, the new day starts just before 8am with a cup of tea in bed. It’s not obligatory, but most guests take it! At 8.30am breakfast is served, comprising fruit juices, choice of cereals, dried fruits, yoghurts, cooked English breakfast (bacon, egg, sausage, tomato, baked beans and mushrooms or a variation of this), with toast, marmalade and jam.  Tea or coffee accompanies your breakfast.

We set off cruising about 10 am, for about 3 hours, during which we serve morning coffee with homemade cakes eg. tiffin, coconut domes etc

A light lunch is served at 1 pm. This could be homemade fishcakes with salad or tomato & basil soup with chunky bread.  There is always a fruit bowl available with lunch or at any other time during your stay.

At 2 pm we start the afternoon’s cruising, when you can sit and relax and watch the world go by or help at locks if you wish, depending on the trip.  Around 4 pm afternoon tea will be served – with perhaps lemon drizzle or scones with jam and clotted cream.

Cruising ends about 5 pm. Guests can choose to sit, relax, chat, watch TV, read or play games (we have a selection on board). Or you may wish to take a stroll along the towpath or for the more energetic, a bike ride. There is always plenty to see and do.

Your 4 course meal will be prepared with as much local produce as possible and is served around 7pm.   One of our popular meals is:-

Starter

Asparagus Rolls with a Herb Butter Sauce

  • Asparagus rolls with herb butter sauce
  • Chicken Breast stuffed with sundried tomato and pesto, wrapped in prosciutto ham, served with new potatoes and steamed vegetables
  • Eton Mess
  • Cheese and biscuits
  • Coffee

We include a bottle of wine per couple with the evening meal or soft drinks if you prefer.  Filtered water is available throughout the day.

If we are moored near to a pub you may like to go for a drink or just sit and relax, perhaps watch TV or chat about the day gone by and the new day ahead.

Kailani is a fully licensed hotel boat, carrying a range of drinks on board.  As you can imagine space is limited so if there is a particular drink that you like, please mention it beforehand and we will do our best to oblige.

Welcome drink

Welcome aboard Kailani

At the start of your cruise on Kailani, guests are welcomed with a glass of bubbly or Pimm’s with freshly made tasty crustades.  Gordon then goes over the Health & Safety On Board briefing. Once that is done and guests have settled into their cabins, we set off for a couple of hours cruising before we moor up for the evening.

The final morning on board Kailani starts with the usual early tea, then breakfast, after which guests finish their packing and we say farewell around 10 am. To many it will be “See you next time”.
