Experience the changing scenery and wildlife through Beds, Bucks and Herts and view our historic, agricultural and industrial heritage.

We depart Linslade, close to the site of the 1963 Great Train Robbery. Take time to visit Leighton Buzzard and the surrounding area beforehand if possible.

We are soon in open countryside and see the start of the Chiltern Hills, also the shape of the Whipsnade Zoo Lion, cut into the chalk hillside of Dunstable Downs.

Then on to Marsworth, a busy meeting point where the Aylesbury and Wendover Arms join the Grand Union. This is an area of abundant wildlife where the Tringford and Marsworth reservoirs serve to maintain water levels on the canal system. We stop at Bulbourne to visit the College Lake Wildlife Centre, a fascinating nature reserve and arable centre.

We continue through the deeply wooded Tring Cutting and the oddly named Cowroast, then Northchurch, before arriving at historic Berkhamsted with the remains of the Norman Castle where William I received the offer of the English crown in 1066. Ensure you make time to visit the castle and the town.

The journey is 14 miles with 26 locks; enough opportunities to help if you wish.

A popular short break with interesting opportunities to see wildlife and experience our historic and agricultural heritage.

Join us on Kailani at 2pm and we set off cruising at 3pm. Departure on your last day will be at 12noon.

The closest railway stations are at Leighton Buzzard (for Linslade) and Berkhamsted.
