#9. Ware to Kingston, 4 nights

Unfortunately, this route is booked.

This meander down the Lee takes us into the busy Limehouse area, followed by a Thames cruise through London upstream to Kingston. Be sure to have cameras ready for this one!

Departing Ware, we follow a long stretch of beautiful green and uncluttered water meadows, followed by Stanstead Abbots and the outskirts of Hoddesdon, shortly before passing the junction with the River Stort.

River Lee in Ware

Onwards passing Broxbourne, Cheshunt and Waltham Abbey, under the M25 motorway and the following reservoirs, the varying scenes of the London Boroughs are seen. This includes the 2012 Olympic Stadium and site. Although some of the structures have been dismantled, the memories of that stupendous occasion still exist.

Our route to the Limehouse Basin is through mainly industrial areas although with points of interest and some interesting views. The Basin is our mooring for the night before the delights of our Capital City.

London Tower Bridge

View of Tower Bridge

The trip “through” London is amongst some of the world famous structures in the World. Books have been written on the sights from the river. Experience with us London Bridge, Tower Bridge, The Tower of London, Millennium Bridge, Festival Hall, Westminster Bridge, County Hall, The London Eye, Houses of Parliament, Battersea, and many, many more. The river twists and turns in all directions, ensuring ever changing views. Eventually the scenes turn to suburbia then open views as we pass Brentford and Richmond, then our final dash up to Teddington. This is the limit of the Tidal Thames and we cruise along the last couple of miles to Kingston.  What a trip!

A mixed route from the countryside through our capital city with ever changing views and sights to talk about for years.

The journey is 50 miles with 25 locks. You can help if you wish on the Lee. There’s no need to on the Thames.

Join us on Kailani at 2pm and we set off cruising at 3pm. Departure on your last day will be at 10am.

The closest railway stations are at Hertford and Kingston upon Thames.
