This is a scenic rural cruise, including the 2 tunnels of Blisworth and Braunston.

Stoke Bruerne Village

Stoke Bruerne

You should have time to make a visit to Stoke Bruerne and the famous canalside village and Waterways Museum.

Our departure from Stoke Bruerne is timed for our early morning transit of the Blisworth Tunnel, the third longest on the English canal system. After the village of Blisworth, we begin to follow the route of the Midland Main Line railway and for a short time, the M1 motorway. We make a stop to visit the nearby Heart of the Shires Shopping Village, set in a courtyard of farm buildings with interesting retail opportunities, tea room and antiques before heading up the flight of locks at Long Buckby to Norton Junction.

Bridges at Braunston

The next day it’s another early start to transit the Braunston Tunnel – not as long as Blisworth, but certainly not as straight!! We then head down to  Braunston, where the village and marina are worth a wander, then it’s a 5 mile lockless stretch to journeys end at Napton, the junction of the Grand Union and South Oxford Canals.

The journey is 31 miles with 21 locks; with opportunities to help if you wish.

Join us on Kailani at 2pm and we set off at 7.30am the following day. Departure on your last day will be at 10am.

The closest railway stations are at Northampton (for Stoke Bruerne) and Long Buckby (for Napton).
